The Brackley round of Rotary's 2014 Young Musician Competition was held on 15 November at Waynflete Hall, Magdalen College School for students up to the age of 17.

There were 24 acts involving 90 talented young musicians from local schools demonstrating
their vocal or instrumental skills. The overall winner was the winner of the Intermediate section, Ellena Teal on trumpet. Ellena goes on to the Rotary district semi-finals. She is a student at Magdalen College School, Brackley and she performed the first movement from Neruda's Trumpet Concerto.

This event is dedicated to the memory of Marc Coleman; local headteacher, musician (co-founder of Brackley Music School) and Brackley Rotarian.

The club is organising a collection of hand tools to support the Tools For Self Reliance charity, relieving poverty in Africa by encouraging self-sufficiency. Hand tools (not garden tools) will be collected at a coffee morning in the Town Hall on Saturday 17 January between 9.00am and noon.

If you have suitable hand tools but cannot attend the Town Hall please contact us to see if alternative arrangements can be made.
